Starstreak is a British man-portable anti-aircraft missile system designed to destroy enemy helicopters and aircraft. This man-portable air defense system (MANPADS or MPADS) was developed by Thales Air Defense based in Belfast. The company itself positions the missiles as ‘designed to provide short-ranged air defense against conventional airborne threats such as helicopters and low-flying aircraft.’
