Heaven!

Oh my goodness gracious mother of all shoes.

Irregular Choice has just launched its ONLINE STORE!!!!!

Even though Heaven is flooding my house, forcing me under house-arrest, it still opened up a little window for me to escape into the world where I can be liberated, creative, and pretty - the world of shoes.

Though it doesn't really make any sense shopping for shoes when I can't go out but whatta heck, just browsing through the collection already makes my life much more worthy of living.

Edit>: Blythe AND Irregular Choice? Please just kill me now..

Monomania

monomania \mon-uh-MAY-nee-uh; -nyuh\, noun:

  1. Pathological obsession with a single subject or idea.

  2. Excessive concentration of interest upon one particular subject or idea.

Today's Word of the Day in my inbox. How appropriate.

Now on a different note. To tell you the truth, I didn't think she would be able to pull it off, having heard of her crappy music and all but she does a pretty good job singing Roxie here. But to me Renee is still the best Roxie.

Battle of the Tones

Backstreet Boys vs. 'N Sync

UCLA vs. UCSD

Scatter Tones vs. Tritones

------------------------

I Want It That Way by UCLA

Bye Bye Bye by UCSD

Yes I'm still obsessed. Nothing else to do can't go out everywhere is flooded.

BTW, these bands are filled with Asian talents. Is it because of its geological location (California = Asian State) or is it because we Asians are just better? :P

A'cappella

I was getting my daily updates from Perez and he recommended this college A'cappella band from UCLA called Awaken A Cappella. What got me interested was that they are doing the Acappella version of the song Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap, which is one of the songs that must be in all OC Fans' playlists.

They are the new kind of Acappella group, singing the current top hits in their own versions.

Then I started browsing their MySpace profile, only to find out that California has some really kick ass Acappella bands! Check these MySpaces out for cool vocal tunes.

  • Awaken A Cappella - UCLA - Their version of Hide and Seek would have made Marissa's Death a little more interesting.

  • Scatter Tones - UCLA - This group is super awesome! They recreate my fave Mr. Brightside, complete with guitar riffs and drum bangings - all human!

  • Random Voices - UCLA - Girl Powered Acappella group - the harmonious If I Ain't Got You will just melt you.

  • Reverse Osmosis - USC - Their version of Coldplay's Fix You is a lot better than the original.

I love Acappellas - they give me goosebumps.

Thailand also has its very own Acappella group, called, unsurprisingly, Acappella 7, because well the band composes of 7 Acappella singing guys..

I couldn't find their website but found this from one of those online music players. Click here so you all can see (hear) how good they are. This song is called "Teen Ka" or Crow's feet, a.k.a., wrinkles. Their lyrics are all jokes and laughable fun but their talent is dead serious.

Are they still around? Thai artists who can actually sing never have the looks so they tend to die before their time. What a shame.

I got a new phone

Kinda. My dad bought it already but he'll use it on his European trip first in Oct and when he's back, IT WILL BE MINE! *evil laugh*

Well you know what I am looking for in a phone - Camera, MP3 player, video, anything un-phone-like. Well I found it. Though the camera isn't as good as my bLiNgZ N90, at least it has a cam - 2 Megapixel.

Dopod 838Pro

It's actually a Pocket PC, which not only has everything I look for in a phone, but it can also surf the net, with QWERTY keyboard, read Word and PowerPoint files, and even has MSN Messenger!

It does have some cons though. Well obviously the camera issue, and of course, its hidious CEO/Corporate/Executive colour, a.k.a . grayish black. But fret not, I heard of an incoming plan to visit Hong Kong again in the winter and I can take this thing along and get it wrapped in shiny happy colours, a.k.a. pink with hearts.

But for now, while my dad is still enjoying the new toy, I'll just let my Photoshop skills run wild to satisfy my own little desire for:

Pink Hello Kitty Dopod

FYI: No matter how much you (I) wish this phone existed, it does not. The image above was done on Photoshop by yours truly. But man I'm good.

Life like this

OK first of all let me clarify some stuff.

This blog is my personal blog where I usually write things concerning my life and things I like. Since my life is lived here in Bangkok Thailand, it should come as no surprise to anyone that I sometime blog about it. So blogging about the Coup is merely blogging about something that's currently happening in my country. I am no expert at the subject (Coup, or politics in general). I don't even know how to use some of the terms to identify those "officials" in Thai or even in English. But the reason why I am blogging about this is that it is the least I can do to help report what is really going on while other channels of communications are altered, tampered, or even stopped. Over here in Thailand, to tell you the truth, there really isn't much going around because all sources are monitored, some censored, by this new Martial Law.

So I apologise if I cannot fully answer your questions about the Coup, or have a more "professional" looking blog. I know people are coming here from all sorts of directions and I thank you all so much for linking but I'm just a girl who's trying to graduate so she can get out of this big mess of a country, or at least get out there to help try to improve it.

I'll continue posting about the Coup whenever there are crucial updates that need attention but I will not make any political comment or turn the whole blog into a politic-centric one. This blog remains first and foremost my "ranting hub". However, if I ever feel the itch to rant about Thailand and its politics, just look for that "Siam" label and you'll find it. Again thank you all so much for visiting my blog.

Skanks and Untouchable Men

Escobar once again for us Saturday night. The plan was first to go to Astra at RCA with Klao but good thing she changed her mind. RCA is so not my crowd, or Bua's. You can totally see the difference between the RCA crowd and the Thonglor/Ekamai crowd. I am not trying to be mean but they are mostly a bunch of wannabes around RCA. Unless you go to the upscale ones like Route or Astra, you'll find lots of these skanks walking around begging for attention from whatever creatures that have d*cks. Bua and I got there and immediately we knew we were out of place. I don't know it's just not my thing. If we have to go to these places and be compared to those that we know are so beneath us, why bother?

So Escobar it was we still needed to finish that bottle of Red.

We got there and took a seat on the second floor like always. The first thing we noticed was that the huge table next to us were full of guys - young, well-groomed, bunch of good looking Thai guys, and to tell you the truth that's a really rare sight to see.

Really rare. Really weird. A bunch of guys? Cute guys? And no girls?

As the time passed, more booze to go around, our nightmare was realised. Not only that they started getting a little bit friendly with each other, they started dancing, against each other! Shaking their booties, grinding up each other's behinds, and all that manly attitudes that got Bua's hormones pumping just now just faded away. It was a one big gay party at that table and boy were we disappointed.

And they were cute! Like very. No wonder why there are no cute straight guys left for us straight girls. The gays just take all the good ones, leaving us with a bunch of obnoxious, selfish, ungentlemenly bunch of poorly dressed assholes.

I DID NOT DRINK this time. Well one glass which really was too little to give any effects. For Bua though? Last night was HER night. So let me just give you a walkthrough of how things went down (the toilet) for her.

Bua, this post is dedicated to you:

1. Chilling at Starbucks RCA, looking like a decent person.

2. Having a nice little Tall Caramel Frappuccino before hitting the scene.

3. Starting to get bored. Klao changed the venue again?

4. Finally at Escobar. Meeting up with Klao and settling down.

5. Thai Party Pack is served.

6. Things are looking great so far

7. Then Bua grabs a drink, and one more, and one more, and one more..

8. Bua starts to lose it. Even Klao the renowned party goer is totally disgusted by what she's seeing.

9. Bua has now lost it.

10. Gay or straight she does not know. She fires it up with him anyway. (And yes he's from that table)

Bua continued until the lights were up and the music down.

She now pretty much does not remember anything from last night. I took her home around half past one. My car now smells like a brewery. So as a thank you to her for making me her driver, her personal ATM machine and her nanny, and soon to be her AA sponsor, I now present to you, the last moment of Miss KorBua at Escobar last night.

Squatting, on the floor, Ekamai sidewalk, with my leg as her source of balance.

Thanks Bua Bua for one HELL of a night!

Mob at Paragon

Thought it was over? Think again.

A call for gathering at Paragon Fountains at 6PM tonight, urging people to protest against the coup.

More info here.
You can also sign a petition.

Can I go?? Just to observe I swear.

UPDATES!
Sorry NOT live this time. I managed to drag myself through Friday Traffic to take some photos. I met up with Bua who was already there with a friend so we went for dinner and a bowling session while waiting for the mob time.

Damn why must it be at Paragon out of all places. So many distractions. I ended up going there too late, there were already mainstream press all over the Guy With Mask and his crew. I tried to get a video but it was soo noisy and so crowded so there was no point.

There was this reporter in front of me with journalistic notes in her hands I could see everything. From her notes it said that he's a Chula Political Science graduate. He's here to protest the suppression of freedom by the Coup people that forbids people to talk about politics freely. I don't have any more details because the place was like a rock concert so many sweaty people and so many of them taller than me I was suffocating.

The whole thing was said to be held at Paragon Fountain area but the area was closed for maintenance so they moved to the staircase in front of Siam Center instead.

Here are the photos.

We were opposite the thing. Please do not mistaken the massive number of people as the mob. It wasn't even big enough to be called a mob. Those are just onlookers and press.

There were army people standing around too. Look at the second picture. The old lady came by and gave them a 7-11 bag full of snacks and bevs. How cute.

See the crowd? Only the middle guy is involved in the whole thing. The rest is people with cam phones and press.

ไอ้ตี้จอมเสือก Nosy little Kitz managed to wiggle in and took a few shots.

These are the rest of the "mob". I took this shot while I was under someone's armpits so please bare with the blur. I couldn't stay to read what was on the signs I was out of breath.

The amount of mainstream press I was competing. Ran into one shouting gibberish in Japanese into his microphone. So I guess he's a reporter from Japan.

Dumbest thing? If he hadn't had that thing covering his mouth people would have heard him better. Oh well. Gesture speaks louder than words I guess.

Man that was fun. Again no bloodshed or gunfires. Not that I was hoping for that huge but man it could have been a little bit more exciting.

Edit: Jotman has Video Interviews

Normalcy

OK so school resumed today so I was able to get my substitution assignment for that damn seminar class so now I can graduate. Things are back on tracks. The whole day I was out, even drove to Bang Na, and not even once I came into contact with the army men nor the tanks. Have they all gone home?

Looks like things are getting back to normal, despite the country being under Martial Law. One new little change that this law brought us is the whole new level of censorship. No political gathering, no discussing politics, and of course no voicing your opinions whatsoever about the whole mumbo jumbo coup. (Oops did I just do that?)

The Ministry of ICT is now trying to destroy monitor all online contents being published to the public that could cause people to divide a.k.a. start a counter riot and all that crap. I doubt it will happen though, the tanks somehow have no effect on people, except being a new must-visit Bangkok attraction.

So fine, no opinions then no opinions. It's not like we Thais were ever able to exercise our rights of freedom of speech anyways.

So let's not talk about politics today, let's talk about me! Met up with my old Brit buddy Maddy from Harrow today after Uni with Bua. Great timing to come to Bangkok. I'm swamped with last-week-of-uni work and now the Coup. So we had to take her out, gotta catch up on things. We're still as crazy as ever we haven't changed one bit. Man I miss the old days.

Normalcy for me means resume to shopping so we did - at Suan Lum Night Bazaar. For the first time though I didn't buy anything. Just didn't feel like it after I busted out 4,500 off my wallet on a new pair of Nine West wedges Sunday.

Then we had a little fun at the MRT while waiting for the train.

I now present to you, for the first time ever, a video blog! Not just from one blogger, but TWO! Bua somehow turned it into a personal ad but hey there's nothing new there.

BTW, those are THE SHOES. Who the hell wears heels to Suan Lum? It's a suicide..

Job Opening

Craig's List - the famous online classifieds is showcasing its new entry.

Rest

OK I'm giving it a rest. I live blogged because all the news channels were cut off and all the websites were blocked. Now all major newssites and channels are up and running, my job is done. Besides, school back to normal tomorrow so I need to get back to my work.

It was quite a fun experience! Again big thanks to everyone for sticking by and for linking back.

For intensive updates, again I'm handing the torch to Bangkok Pundit. For major updates that all must now, I'll post here.

Sigh there better be a backup seminar class after all this. It's not our fault it's the government's. If I'm not graduating because of this, there'll definitely be a coup from me.

Enjoying the Coup

It's like a history book comes to life!

OK let me recollect what I have heard during my waking moment between sleeping and actually getting my foot out of the blanket.

Mom came in the room like 6AM to wake me up to call the Uni about the classes. Man ABAC is so far behind. No notice on the website nor special announcement at the call center. You call them and you either get disconnected or no reply at all. So I guess there's no one there to do the job which means no class today. WHICH means no seminar class for me which could only mean one thing..... OI!

Right now Thai TVs are back with mostly weird cooking shows, commercials, and of course the coverage by yellow wearing news anchors. Other Thai channels are too idiotic for me to stay tuned so I'm sticking with ITV the least of them all.

These are the main points I could grasp:

  • Coup is peaceful, no violence
  • It's only temporary. They have no intention of taking over. They just needed to kick his ass out so the country can be revived from scratch.
  • It was done because it was believed that the PM himself was going to stage one of his own when he comes back from UN and he would have the absolute power over everything - so the military seizes the opportunity and does it first when he's away.
  • Thaksin has cancelled the UN speech.
  • News stations are saying that people are actually enjoying this. People were interviewed and they all said they support it. On the streets where tanks and armed men walk down, people are cheering and clapping their hands.

And that's what I got so far. I'm still half awake.

A bit off topic here: I'm now linked with Wikipedia, how cool! Whoever made those two posts thanks so much!

Also guys thank you all for the comments! I know mine is a little bit less serious. I tried being serious and formal I did, but I just couldn't stand it. Most of it because I don't understand jack about politics!

More key updates I will be posting them at the old one, because it's where people link to.

  • Thaksin is landing in Singapore instead. Man I was gonna shop there after exams..
  • Locals, avoid all official buildings.
  • Officials are coming out, press going in.

  • I'm hungry. I haven't showered or brushed my teeth yet. Back to my life for a moment. BRB.
  • Agaisnt the Coup, For the Constitution. They're just taking down Thaksin's one only isn't it? Not the WHOLE Democracy.. New Yorkers, what are you rooting for? A whole new start for Thailand or the degrading old government? I dunno who I am rooting for as I don't really give a flying fish about politics. Just wanna see how all this unfolds and whether I should be moving country.
  • Reporting via Flickr
  • Yummm.. Khao Pad Kra Pao Gai with Khai Dao. My Bird Flue favourite.

And the Kitz rests. Please go to the main page for additional updates.

One Two Four

I just had a field trip to the Emporium today.

Well not really just near there at the UBC II building at the beginning of Soi 33.

It was part of my MPR (Marketing Public Relations) class to go see an actual PR Agency and learn from the expert.

To tell you the truth I have never heard of 124 Communications before so I went there with no expectation, just of the possibility that it could turn out to be one of those boring "this is what I do" boastful speeches by some self-centered uptight CEO.

Man was I wrong.

We got a little tour and boy is their company nice. It's overlooking the whole Sukhumvit with view over the Benjasiri Park. It's near a BTS station and the best of all - its neighbors are The Emporium and my beloved Basilico!

The best part. Their founder and CEO, Mr. Nimitz Modrakee who's not only the nicest and friendliest "boss" I have ever met but also the funniest. He dropped jokes, made fun of our Faculty Dean, and wasn't afraid to mock himself. I would love to be working for someone like that. He makes work fun. Not something you will likely find in such a high-profile company.

124 is actually quite a small company, size-wise let me make that clear. Success-wise, they are huge. How huge? They are responsible for all PR activities done for, to name a few:

  • Oishi
  • BMW & Mini
  • P&G
  • Designer Brands (A|X, Chanel, DKNY, Gucci, Hermes, Prada, etc)
  • Siam Future Development, aka the owner of Thonglor's J-Avenue and Market Place.

And the awesomely big ones that totally caught be by surprise such as:
  • Airport of Thailand, aka, The Suvarnabhumi Project
  • The King's 60th Celebrations thingie, by this I mean everything from the Yellow Shirt and Wristband mania to the distribution and broadcasting of the whole Sea of Yellow event in front of the palace thing.

Yeah they are THAT big. And they are accepting applications.

Hmm.. They never had an ABAC graduate working for them yet though. Maybe I should try my luck at being the first.

I think you're crazy

I love Gnarls Barkley's Crazy but I'm definitely loving it more when Charlotte Church is grooving it up with Nelly Furtado.

Charlotte was such as small soprano singing little girl back when she was still An Angel. Whatta heck happened?

PS. Damn do I have to edit all my posts again now that the Label feature is usable for all? No more technorati tags for me. Too confusing.

Unforgettable

It rarely happens to me. A movie that just hits straight through your heart.

I watched it and I felt the loneliness. I felt a loud cry for that long gone feeling. I felt the need to make the past memories present again.

I often find myself not doing anything but think. Thinking and analysing the past. Thinking if the way it was and how it should have been. Thinking of what went wrong that made that past not present.

Can memories be erased? If you can't wish it hadn't happen, can you wish to forget? As if it never existed? Life would be so much easier to live if you can just move on from whatever memory that's holding you back. Making you feel stuck. Trapped.

Things were great. You were at the point of your highest. First thought that came through when you woke up made you feel like you could make the best out of your day. Every time you went to bed you just couldn't wait for the night to be over so you could live the day like that again.

Now. You can't go on. Every waking moment you have you spend it thinking of how good things were. Or could have been. And every time you go to bed you wish you'd never wake up ever again.

Can someone please erase my memories?

Memories give you false hope. Why keep them?

It rained on Bow

I woke up to the scene ripped off directly from The Day After Tomorrow this morning. I just thought oh well what the heck, I got ready for my 2PM class anyways. I got out to the front gate only to realise that my baby wouldn't even make it out of the soi.

At the very same moment, my friends at Uni were enjoying an equally merry experience. Bow and Taay struggled through the flooded ABAC soi for 40 minutes just to get to the parking lot just 5 mins away on a usual sunny day.

Bow had enough. She couldn't risk getting fungi on her toes and liquidised dog poos on her Substance shoes any longer. She went inside a coffee shop and invented her own protective device - grocery bag shoes.

Taay got it all on camera.

Bow came over later for our little last minute project work. It was her bad day alright. She was stressed out. Projects up to her neck, ruined her favorite shoes, and her computer room is forming up a little beach whenever it rains, she has had enough. She needed to let it all out.

She opens my iTunes, double clicks on Let's Get Retarded by the BEP, and she just loses it.

Little did she know this day would really become the worst day of her life.

Her nice little friend, aka ME, was standing by, with her cam phone ready in hand and with no hesitation, she pressed record...

I got it all on video.

Some friends you have Bow.

With the power of the internet and viral marketing vested in me, I now command you all to forward this blog post.

Ouch Eh?

Mischa, you're clearly "out of the picture". Literally.

Here are some new promo shots of the OC Season Four. The first one looks awefully similar to the OC Season Three Promo with just one thing missing. Can you spot the difference?

Season Three

Season Four

That's just sad.

Man I never liked her or her character but it's really sad to see her go. The show started with the core of RyRissa love and now without Marissa in the formula, it's just plain wrong.

I have no expectation for the O.C. to go beyond this season at all it's already apparent that this would be the last. It's good I guess. Shows like this if it's dragged on too long it will just go awry and dead before it's even cancelled. I still wish to see Rachel, Adam, and Ben's careers take off without the OC disaster stigma tagging along with them. Besides they are already in their mid twenties already how long can they play college??

Reminder: The O.C. Season Four starts November 2nd.

Will continue to be a loyal (partially) OC blog till the end of days..

Sad

Shit like this always happens to people who don't deserve it.

Click to see the last Irwin Family photoshoot and story before the incident.

"If I'm going to die," the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin said in a 2002 interview, "at least I want it filmed."

Almost Perfect Soulmate

I think I found my (almost) perfect soulmate.

  • Nokia
  • Pink
  • Bluetooth
  • 3G
  • 3 Megapixel Camera with flash and editor, for both photos and videos
  • Video Calls (still hoping for it)
  • MP3 Player
  • FM Radio
  • and of course for basic phone calls and SMS.

New Pink L'Amour 7390

Why almost perfect, you asked? No friggin' Carl Zeiss lens that's why...

Should I? Should I not??

Two more in the collection: 7360, 7373. Out in Thailand on an unspecified date in 4th Qtr 2006.

Steve Irwin Is Dead

Whoa man I was just complaining about how Central Chitlom kept playing clips of him on one of those mall TVs!

He's dead!

He was killed by a stingray, not a crocodile like the way he ought to be killed.

More reports here.

MSN Users, please read:

If you haven't heard already, Steve Irwin (the Crocodile Hunter that you see all the time on TV) died today on the 4th of September, on the Batt Reef, pierced by a stingray barb through his heart near Cairns. As a sign of respect for the Australian cultural icon, please place a turtle ( tu ) at the Start of your MSN name, and forward this message on to others.

Man this is really saddening.. He's supposed to be THE one that doesn't die if you know what I mean.. Like Christopher Reeve being Superman and all..

Sigh.. RIP, mate.

Mod

Now I look exactly like my mom when she was back in high school.

Kitz Before:
Kitz After:

Now when one has a mod fringe like that, what is one to do?

One goes shopping!

Get the look (dress from Zara), the gear (boots from mom's closet), the pose (from mom's memory) and the Photoshop ready and voila! You have mastered the look of a stumpy 1960s transvestite.

Shameless.

VMAs

Didn't like any of the VMA nominees this year. Well, except for Christina A. but she didn't win any. But there's only one reason for me to tune in...

OK Go and their LIVE treadmill dance!

Freakin' awesome. I have posted a few comments on their MySpace beggin' them to come to SEAsia not sure if it's working. For now let's just all depend on the ever reliable YouTube.
