Bangkok New Year Blasts

Here we go again!

Bangkok has just witnessed continuous blasts around the city. The bombs were said to have been planted by Pro-Thaksin menace and not the Southern terrorists.

Seven places have been reported right now and they are:

Victory Monument - at a bus stop, 2 dead, 4 injured.

Saphan Kwai - at a police booth, believed to have been dropped from the overhead crossover. 3 injured.

Seacon Square - at the motorcycle parking lot.

Klong Teoi Market - one injured.

Sukhumvit 62 - at a police booth at a junction. Traffic lights are out.

Chaeng Wattana - in front of Macro

Yaowarat

Khae Rai Intersection - The Mall Ngam Wong Wan

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Great, Bangkok, this is just great. Now I am grounded for NYE.

Ready for Live Update again people? Here we go:

  • Vic Mon traffic lights actually fell down. Vic Mon was the first to go.
  • Central World Countdown party might be canceled.
  • Police are conducting a bomb search around the city.
  • It's speculated that the dumbasses behind the bombings are Pro-Thaksin and not Islamic terrorists from down south. THIS IS YET TO BE CONFIRMED.

  • Gabe, Tom, Matt, you guys sure know how to pick a place to live. You are welcome to refuge at my house for New Year. My mom said she will buy booze for you all.
  • News channels are warning people about celebrating NYE at crowded places.
  • New area added. Khae Rai Intersection.

  • Central Chitlom is closed and is currently clearing everybody out of the mall.

  • Bangkok Pundit, it's that time again huh? :D Stay with me.
  • The press conference will be on TV soon. Channels that are at the scene are Channel 9, Channel 11, ITV, and UBC News 07.
  • Seacon Square is closed.
  • See anyone suspicious? Refrain yourself from doing Erawan Shrine on their ass. Report to police instead.

  • For once I actually don't mind getting grounded. I get to do live blogging again.
  • King's New Year blessing is on TV. Kinda sad with this happening. What a nice way to start a new year.

  • The Nation covers the incident.

    Press Conference.
  • National Police dudes are saying some bullshit about some other bombings in other countries that have nothing to do with any of this shit. WTF?
  • Something about IRA and British Government. Blah blah on brotherly love within the country. WHATTA HELL??
  • They are saying police are now alert (are they implying that they were not?) and ready to take on everything.
  • As for the Countdown celebrations, Bangkokians are urged to be careful and keep an eye on things around them.
  • Er don't we already know all this shit?
  • No more information on anything they don't know shit.
  • And now they are repeating each other.
  • This is the most ridiculous press conference ever.

"If you panic it will get worse."
"The people behind this definitely do not mean well."
"If you are aware of the fact that this does not only happen in Thailand, then you must stick together as one as the Thai people." (Whatta fuck does that mean??)
"Whatever problems we have, we must forgive each other." (Argh he's pissing me off)
"We are ordered to take care of everyone."
"We have to take care of over 60 million people. Of course it's difficult." (They are burying themselves.)
"No one is dead." (Hahah oh really????)
    "No more updates."

  • Two casualties. 1 from Vic Mon blast, 1 from Klong Toei.
  • Central World drunks are still up for it. The Governor is not happy about it.
  • Now other provinces are panicking.

  • Ha. Central World Celebration might get canceled.
  • Suvarnabhumi might be a target.
  • Sanam Luang Countdown is off. Paragon and Central World are still debating.
  • You can get live update on FM 92.75, that if you understand Thai and don't mind hearing dumb officials talking in circles.
  • None of the channels can get a good live coverage from any of their crew at all the signals keep getting cut off. This is funny.

  • Stampede around Big C Rachadamri in front of Central World. SOme bag was left there but it was false alarm. Who did that? Fun?
  • My MSN is dying.
  • Lost Boy went taking pics at Vic Mon.
  • Police people are having a meeting but they say that cannot disclose any info right now as it might be threatening to the country's security. Hmmmmm....
  • Conflicting reports on Central World celebrations. Some say it's on some say its over. Ask your Central World friends.

  • Suspicious looking bag found at The Mall Ngam Wong Wan. Why is that news? Let it blow up first or something then make it news. I have suspicious looking bags in my room all the time how come they never made national news?
  • Lost Boy is now playing. Now he's got blood all over his blog.

  • Bangkok Governor canceled ALL public celebrations - INCLUDING Central World.

  • Nothing new right now just reports on what happened.
  • All channels have resumed to normal programming.

  • CNN is up to the story now.
  • ITV is the only one telling things right now even though the things they tell are what we already know.

  • Victims so far - Thanks Leigh.
  • Pieces of the blasted bombs were found and they are similar. They were timed bombs.

  • Bomb went off at exactly midnight at Central World.
  • Four other bombs were found before they went off.
  • One foreigner got hurt at Central World. People are panicking.
  • Many were hurt at Central World and the foreigner lost a leg.
  • Three foreigners were hurt.

  • Two bombs at Central World. One near the Gaysorn/Central World junction, one at the cross over bridge over Pratunam junction.

  • You get 40000B for your dead relative.
  • Another bomb blasted at Buddy Bar at Khaosarn Road.
  • Shit this is too much I can't keep track anymore.
  • Bombs were detonated by mobile phones.
  • Bangkok Pundit: "The Nation's report on a bomb exploding in Khao San Road is rebutted by Thai channel ITV who say only a suspicious package was found so the whole area has been cleared as a precaution."

  • OK they were not detonated by mobile phones, but by watches.

  • Snapfuck crew crashed and has just left. The temporary bar in my room is now closed. The night ended nicely with an episode of the OC. I'm off to bed. More bombing news tomorrow.. I mean.. Later today as now is 3AM.

(Un)Happy New Year to all Thais.
